Begin your journey towards becoming an ABA behavioral therapist today!
The Pathways Behavioral Health Internship is the perfect opportunity for those who are looking to start their career in ABA therapy, as well as those who want to learn more about the field and decide if it's right for them. Our internship will give you a hands-on experience with providing therapy to children with various behavioral concerns. By shadowing our behavior technicians and analysts, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of ABA therapy, as well as the day-to-day experience and work lifestyles of ABA therapists.
Is the Pathways ABA internship paid? Not initially. Depending on how many hours you can devote to the internship each week, you may have the opportunity to become a paid Registered Behavior Technician as early as 30 days into your internship. The primary goal of the internship is to provide you with the skills and training needed to work independently as a Behavior Technician (therapist).
Is the internship full or part-time? Typically our internships are part-time, as many interns are undergraduate and graduate students with a full course-load. Paid Behavior Technician positions can be full or part-time.
Do I need a degree to become a Behavior Technician? A college degree is not required. Many of our therapists are undergraduate students that began as interns and are now working part-time as Behavior Technicians while continuing to pursue their degree.
Do all interns become Behavior Technicians? Not necessarily. Our goal is to train all interns to become Behavior Technicians by the end of their internship, which is typically 30 days. You may decide that this career isn't for you, or in some instances there may not be an immediate position available. You can talk to us more about your personal and career goals during your interview.
Where is your office located? Across the DMV! Most of our services are provided in-home, helping our clients develop the skills to thrive in their everyday environment. We also have facilitated learning pods in Manassas, where we help our clients learn and implement the behaviors needed to become successful students. Your internship may include experiences in either or both of these settings.
